Coast Guard assists passenger with nervous breakdown following a vessel collision in Tabaco, Albay PCG: A 29-year old female passenger of MV Calixta V was assisted by the personnel of Coast Guard Sub Station (CGSS) Tabaco after she suffered from nervous breakdown when their vessel was hit by another ship at the Port of Tabaco last Sunday, October 19. The victim was identified as Mary Ann Magtanod, 29 years old, a resident of Virac, Catanduanes. Senior Chief Petty Officer BJ Camacho PCG requested assistance from CGSS Tabaco to bring Magtanod to the nearest hospital upon the ships arrival at the Tabaco Port. Immediately, personnel of said sub-station contacted the City Health Office to request medical assistance for the said passenger. MV Calixta V safely docked at Port of Tabaco where the personnel of CGSS Tabaco assisted the victim. Magtanod was then brought to Cope Hospital Tabaco City for further medication. Initial investigation to both captains of the motor vessels disclosed that MV Eugene Elson requested MV Calixta V to give way while it was underway at the vicinity waters off San Miguel Point, approximately one nautical mile from Port of Tabaco. The starboard bow of MV Eugene Elson, however, hit the port side of MV Calixta V due to high speed when the former was approaching the Port of Tabaco. Both motor vessels suffered slight damages/scratches.
