Coco the Frenchie, relaxing and taking a snooze (without snoring!) - TopicsExpress

Coco the Frenchie, relaxing and taking a snooze (without snoring!) after her rhinoplasty (ie nose job). Brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome (BOAS) is a condition that is caused by structural problems in the face and mouth/throat of some dogs, especially the squashed or flat face breeds like Pugs and French Bulldogs. Usually there is more than one structural problem (very narrow nostrils, an excessively long soft palate, narrow windpipe, excessive soft tissue in the back of the throat etc) that makes it much harder for these dogs to breathe, and symptoms vary dramatically depending on the severity of the disease. One of the most common symptom is snoring, and may develop to coughing, exercise intolerance, and even collapse. However, most of the time, a relatively minor procedure to correct the narrow nostrils and/or to correct a soft palate that is too long, will remarkably improve the quality of life for these patients. Now Coco will hopefully be having a more rested sleep, go on longer walks without having to pant excessively, and I believe all her sleeping companions will appreciate her nose job too!
