Cocoa Noire are performing @ The Social Studio for the launch of Outside Art Melbourne. Pop in tomorrow from 6pm for drinks, snacks music and art what more do you need? Outside showcases the work of emerging artists from The Social Studio, postered-up throughout the streets of Melbourne. The project uses the guerrilla marketing tactics of postering as a strategy to break up the stream of advertising in public space. Outside playfully engages with the contentious definition of the outsider artist through the lens of migration and outside space, including issues of social inclusion and exclusion, access and participation in the visual landscape of Melbourne’s city streets. Outside forms a visual dialogue with the Contemporary Outsider Art: The Global Context Conference presented by Arts Project Australia and the Univeristy of Melbourne from 23-26th October, which includes a range of affiliated exhibitions, film screenings and events.
