Coconuts and Rice - my mind menu for today. Morning at Malacanang listening to the cabinet-level deliberation on what programs of the coconut roadmap will be funded from the coconut levy earnings. Afternoon at the DA, facilitating the 3rd Rice Policy Dialogue, with Butch Montes from the South Center, team leader of the external mid-term review of the Food Staples Sufficiency Program. Both involved a healthy exchange of views that did not always agree, among people who focused on what common grounds exist, and on possible solutions to issues that surfaced. What I liked most about the two meetings was the emphasis given to increasing the incomes and improving the lives of the coconut farmers and rice farmers, in the course of improving productivity.
