Cody Bashford et al. There are a number of people who have been working behind the scenes for over 10 years in discussions with the State and Local government and members of parliament, attending meetings at Parliament House and the dam, liaising with marine safety and the Department of Water other governing bodies all for the good of Logue Brook Dam and its users. They are all regular and long term users of the dam with a vested interest in its survival. They are also all VOLUNTEERS and are very well informed in comparison to all the Responsible Campers that I have been reading tirades from on this page over the last few days. These people, who you may or may not know of, are THE reason that Logue Brook Dam was re-opened. They are the ones who partitioned, rallied, put forth proposals and spent time with members of parliament such as Graham Jacobs (at the time) and Murray Cowper to eventually have the dam re- opened. Brad Barton and his father along with some others were the key players in this. The people that have spoken up against camping on the northern side of the dam, people I know personally, are the ones who frequent the dam rain, hail or shine. They are also the first ones to pick up rubbish on the northern side after all the responsible campers leave their camp sites. They are the ones that have pulled beer bottles from the water to prevent damage to their (as people like to mention) $50 000 - $80 000 boats and their children. These people are the ones that remove toilet paper from the trees and shrubs after a long weekend. These people are also the ones who HAVE pushed for MANY years for more toilets on the northern side, more bins on the northern side and better facilities for the campers! These people are the ones who have seen a trend and tried to address it for many years. Amongst other things, the FOLBD have managed to have the ski area re-gazetted (so that it was open for the last summer), have tree stumps removed when the dam was at a low point, have the boat ramp upgraded and have the water outlet valve shut off in winter time. The facts are that the RIGHT people HAVE been talking to the governing bodies of the area and HAVE suggested what you are all saying. That doesnt mean that what has been put to them will happen! The Friends of Logue Brook Dam have provided feedback on many issues you probably arent even aware of. Many of us have been active for many more years than the Facebook page has been around. It is also a fact of life that the minority of people doing the wrong thing will ruin it for the majority. This is what FOLBD is trying to prevent from happening with respect to closure of the dam in its entirety. Social media is a great tool. It is also a great way to piss people off. The emptiest vessel makes the most noise is a proverb that social media is great at highlighting. I would suggest that before launching tirades on this page, that anyone that is interested in firstly finding out exactly what Friends of Logue Brook Dam does and secondly supporting them, contact Brad Barton or Lisa Johnson - Being the President and Secretary respectively or the owners of the Lake Brockman Caravan Park. Please keep in mind that these people are volunteers who have jobs and families and as such will respond to you as they become available to do so.
