Cold In July. ( 2014 ) Cold In July is a edgy crime / drama film that delivers excellent acting by Michael C. Hall, ( Known for his role in Dexter. If you have not watched the show start. Outstanding show that I highly recommend ) Sam Shepard and Don Johnson. Cold In July was first a novel by Joe R. Landsdale then later written for the screen by Jim Mickle who also Directed the film. Since this movie has two twists I didnt see coming it will be difficult to give a detailed review so I will attempt to break it down so you the reader of this fine Facebook page will want to still see the movie. The film evolves around Richard ( Michael C. Hall ) as early on in the film his home is broken into by a masked man. Trembling with fear upon discovering a intruder in his home Richard shoots and kills the him. Right after the shooting Richard is informed by the police that the intruders Father ( Sam Shepard / Russel ) has been released from prison and is in the area. Russel is ex Military and has a long violent past with nothing to lose coming out of prison other than his son that was just killed by Richard . . . So from there things get intense real quick. And thats where I will stop breaking down the film because it will give away far too much. Its a solid lower budget film that grossed $414,623 at the box office. ( not bad for a lower budget film ) The music ( Jeff Grace ) and Cinematography ( Ryan Samul ) is also impressive to note in this film. The film is set in the 80s and they captured that vibe extremely well with a solid set decorator. So in other words I enjoyed the film and I think you should check it out. Its fresh and different for a current time of over killed predictive Hollywood films. Film rating: 8/10 👍👍
