Atlantic Canada People across Atlantic Canada may want to leave some extra time for travel on Sunday, while colder conditions are expected for the start of the work week. New Brunswick: A system approaching from the Great Lakes will will bring snow, freezing rain to parts of the province Sunday. A general 5 to 10 cm of snow can be expected for the central and northern region. Over the the southern half, moisture will fall in the form of freezing rain, potentially causing hazardous road conditions. Nova Scotia: Rainfall is expected for much of the province. About 5 to 10 mm is possible by Sunday night. Newfoundland: Scattered snow showers is expected, with a general 5 to 10 cm possible by the end of the night. Ontario A shovel or an umbrella will come in handy, depending on what part of the province you live. Southern Ontario: Sun and clouds with scattered flurries are expected across the region. Lake effect snow will pick up off Lake Superior, Lake Huron and Georgian Bay Sunday night and continuing through Wednesday, says Weather Network meteorologist Brian Dillon. The system brought more than 16 cm of snow to Chapleau Saturday. It is expected to taper off from west to east Sunday. Prairies Frigid Arctic air will have you layered up and craving a warm cup of hot chocolate. Extreme cold advisories are in effect across parts of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, where wind chill will make it feel like -20 or -30 (even lower in northern parts of Saskatchewan and Manitoba) through Tuesday. Arctic Outflow will set up for the beginning of the week, dropping temperatures 5-10 degrees in some areas, says Kelly Sonnenburg, another meteorologist at The Weather Network. Aside from cooler temperatures, strong winds will pick up on the mainland inlets and valleys, beginning Sunday morning on the North Coast and Sunday night over the south, according to Environment Canada, which issued a special weather statement for the province. Thats coming in behind a system that is bringing snow to the Interior and mountain passes, complicating travel and elevating avalanche danger.
