Cold war in Zim Hip_Hop Tension is mounting within the Zim Hip - TopicsExpress

Cold war in Zim Hip_Hop Tension is mounting within the Zim Hip Hop fraternity ahead of the Hip Hop Awards set to be held in Harare next month. There has been a lot of mudslinging as two camps have emerged, with one led by prolific producer Alexander ‘Xnder’ Mutumha and the other by Tehn Diamond. A barrage of verbal attacks has been aimed at Tehn Diamond and his loyalists . The Tehn Diamond camp has been accused of ‘cross dressing’ and Xnder specifically blasted the wearing of beads, saying hip hop musicians must wear gold chains and ‘bling bling’ jewellery. They even launched a campaign dubbed Hatipfeke ma beads, and they are using social networks to push their agenda. Artistes aligned to the Tehn Diamond camp include rising rapper Noble Styles, Black Pearl, Trae Yung, Dija, Mr Noxa and Doba Don, among others. Noble Styles told The Zimbabwe Mail that he was not in a beef with anyone but will continue wearing beads because everyone has a right to dress as they feel. “I run my own race, I don’t compete with anyone and I will continue dressing the way I like, ndinopfeka ma beads,” said Noble Stles, who is widely tipped to emerge as the biggest winner at the hip hop awards. However, veteran artistes like Stunner have chosen to remain neutral in the ongoing ‘war’. “I have nothing against people who wear beads or those who choose not to, but what I can tell you is I wear gold and silver chains,” said Stunner. Zim hip hop has been peaceful for some time now but with the current verbal war, one hopes it won’t degenerate into physical confrontations. In the United States, lives were lost as a result of the hip hop battles that pitted the West side vs East side. Tupac Shakur and Notorious BIG were victims of the East-West side fights. Local police have since issued stern warning to musicians to refrain from violence.
