Coldest air of the season upon us right now, with a bit of relief - TopicsExpress

Coldest air of the season upon us right now, with a bit of relief late in the weekend. Blustery conditions Tuesday as an arctic High pressure center rolls in. Winds will tame down Tuesday night allowing temperatures to fall to the teens below zero for the bus stop on Wednesday morning. Plenty of sunshine Tuesday with blowing snow to our south primarily. This cold snap is really nothing compared to last year during this week. The coldest temperature in the state was -40 in Babbit, Brimson and Embarrass. In the Twin Cities we dropped to -23 with wind chills on January 6th, 2014 of -48 degrees at 5am that morning. School was called off statewide that day and for many it was the first of many school days that were cancelled because of cold. The coldest wind chill temperature in Minnesota on January 6th, 2014 was -63 degrees at Grand Marais Airport at 9am with a -31 degree F air temperature and a 21mph wind. So this is nothing...Ha!
