Coleraine 05 Academy 11 - 0 Carniny The 05 Academy team took on Cairniny Amateurs on Saturday at Ballysally. The game started off with Coleraine taking control and producing plenty of chances. The defence of Sam McMullan and Dylan Johnson worked together brilliantly and took care of any Cairniny attacks which gave Myles Reily little to do in the first half. The first goal came from within 5 minutes when the hard work of Harry Doherty paid off as the ball ended up at Jack Elliot’s feet and he slipped the ball into the bottom corner. The second goal was much the same as Captain Jake Scott pressed well in midfield and won the ball, passed to Jack Elliot and he smashed the ball past the keeper. Jack Elliot wrapped up his first half hatrick with a great individual effort from 20 yards out; he perfectly placed the ball into the top corner with both power and accuracy. Jake Scott then picked up a pass on the half way line, took it past a defender and drove the shot into the top corner from 25 yards out. Coleraine grew in confidence once again and continued to dominate with Cairniny only getting a few half chances but Myles did well in nets to keep a clean sheet. 5 minutes to go in the first half Coleraine were awarded a corner and Tyler Mitchell stepped up and sent a great ball over the keeper to make it 5-0 at half time. The second half started off much the same even with the introduction of the three subs of Aaron Campbell, Matthew Lenaghan and Matthew Johnson who all did brilliantly when they went on. The sixth goal came when man of the match Jack Elliot slipped a perfect ball into the path of Aaron Campbell who took a touch and smashed the ball into the roof of the net. Coleraine threw on more fresh legs and continued to press Cairniny and were rewarded with a sixth goal when Matthew Lenaghan turned and hit first time lobbing the keeper. The eighth goal was again a great solo effort by captain Jake Scott when he won the ball in his own half, took it past 2 defenders and unleashed a powerful shot into the top corner, the ninth goal came with 10 minutes to go when Harry Doherty, who had been working his socks off for weeks was finally rewarded with the much needed goal he deserved when he picked up the ball outside the opponents box dropped his shoulder, took it past their defender and flicked the ball into the bottom corner. With Harry finally getting his goal you could see the confidence and skill this team can produce, they pushed for more goals and got another when Tyler Mitchell who is in great form picked the ball up on the by-line and used his quick feet and skill to take on 2 defenders and he calmly passed it past the keeper. Coleraine got the final goal of the game when they were awarded a free kick and Harry full of confidence stepped up to take it, he dipped it over the wall and into the top corner to end the game 11-0 to Coleraine. Credit must go to Cairniny as they never let their heads drop and fought to the end. MOM: Jack Elliot Team: Myles Reily, Sam McMullan, Dylan Johnson, Jake Scott, Tyler Mitchell, Jack Elliot, Harry Docherty, Aaron Campbell, Matthew Johnson, Matthew Lenaghan.
