Colin Cook posted I’m a photographer. I take photographs – all the time, and thousands of them. I uploaded one of my photographs to our village website for our local community. I have always referred to him as a reflection and not a ghost. It is up to each individual to decide what they believe and judging by the internet comments some people do believe and some don’t – that will always be the case, it is just a shame that some people reduce themselves to nasty vile remarks which are completely unnecessary. It was a Yorkshire Evening Post photographer who saw the Facebook comments and then passed it to a news reporter to follow up. The newspaper and local radio station contacted Alison for the story, not the other way round. It was the Yorkshire media itself who chased and launched this story. This was a village talking point that went global because the media wanted it to. Its a shame, when reporting, that the media do not always tell a full and complete story from the beginning. Some readers pick out snippets of information and make themselves the judge and jury – sadly without even considering whether there is a back story they know nothing about. This was just a village conversation on Facebook, but now magazines and newspapers all over want to publish. Yes the photograph is mine but the story is not, never has been and never will be and I have had no input whatsoever. Each to their own.
