Colonel Allen West Responds To Sharpton’s ‘Oscars Are Too White’ Tantrum With a Brilliant Proposal by Top Right News on January 22, 2015 in Race 8.6kShare on FacebookShare on TwitterE-mailReddit allen-west-al-sharpton-oscars-race by Jason DeWitt | Top Right News Col. Allen West read about Al Sharpton’s hysterical response to the Academy Awards’ “all-white” nominees and his proposal puts the so-called “controversy” into just the right perspective. As TRN reported, Sharpton said: The movie industry is like the Rocky Mountains, the higher you get, the whiter it gets. I have called an emergency meeting early next week in Hollywood with the task force to discuss possible action around the Academy Awards. The lack of diversity in today’s Oscar nominations is appalling and while it is good that Selma was nominated for ‘Best Picture,’ it’s ironic that they nominated a story about the racial shutout around voting while there is a racial shutout around the Oscar nominations. With all of the talent in Selma and other Black movies this year, it is hard to believe that we have less diversity in the nominations today than in recent history. Now Col. West is never shy about pushing back against so-called “Black leaders” such as Sharpton. And this controversy was no exception. After West reviewed history, and pointed out that this is only the second time in the past two decades that we have seen only White nominees for best actor, actress or director. Then, with tongue firmly in cheek, West exposed the hypocrisy of those like Sharpton creating phony outrage over the issue: But I’ll tell you where there IS a clear pattern of racism. It’s in the NFL! I did a quick review of the starting line-ups for the four playoff teams (Seahawks, Packers, Colts and Patriots) and 65 percent of those players are black. I’d say that’s a little lop-sided, wouldn’t you — considering blacks make up only around 14 percent of the U.S. population. And don’t get me started on the racism in the NBA! If you want to talk about no diversity in honoring excellence, look at the recipients of the Most Valuable Player awards over the last 58 years. It’s shocking! Seventy-eight percent of all MVPs in history have been black! Boy, I’d say the NBA is way too black. We ought to hold an emergency meeting to discuss possible action against the NBA, right Al? I mean it’s simply not FAIR. In the NBA, it’s like outer space Al — the higher you get, the darker it gets. Makes total sense. So will Sharpton and the race-baiters applaud in agreement? Of course not. They would all simply say: what do you mean? Sports are a “meritocracy” — only the most talent people should get to play and compete at the highest levels. Exactly — so it should be with the Oscars — Academy members vote for the very best in each category based upon the performances of that year. And so the “Reverend” Sharpton’s fake controversy is exposed with wit and intelligence by the masterful Col. Allen West. Now if only we could have a President West — then racial divisions could truly be solved.
