Color Questions: Is there a modifier or specific cause for a tri - TopicsExpress

Color Questions: Is there a modifier or specific cause for a tri to have no copper on their head? And Is the lack of head copper passed down when bred or do they typically produce the eyebrow/cheek copper in their own offspring? Asking because I now have one (2.5 weeks old) and have only seen 1 other that was a typical tri- except for the head. Both are black. Both parents of both pups have been typical tris with minimal white but not minimal copper. Only relation between the puppies is the great grandfather of one (dams side) is the same as the grand father of the other (sires side). The pup not pictured does have cheek copper. This one does not (so far, of course). Neither have been bred and I cant seem to find photos of similar dogs that have, let alone their offspring. ETA- the glare off of the coat makes this pup look like she may have cheek or eyebrow copper- she doesnt. She does have some showing through on that pastern though.
