ColorOfChange.org The Guardian broke the news today that the American Legislative Exchange Council is bleeding money after losing more than 60 corporate funders over the past two years - largely in response to our campaign spotlighting ALECs responsibility for discriminatory voter ID and deadly Stand Your Ground laws. Internal ALEC documents leaked to the paper (and published in their entirety) show that ALECs created a so-called Prodigal Son Project targeting 41 of those corporations to try to woo them back - without doing anything to address why these companies left in the first place. Its a desperate ploy for cash that the likes of Coca-Cola, GE, Kraft Foods Inc, Best Buy, McDonalds, and Walgreens - who depend on maintaining positive relationships with Black consumers - would be wise to ignore. Check out the full article below and let these CEOs know what you think of ALECs latest ploy in the comments.
