Coloradans know the freedom to be left alone forms the very cornerstone of our Bill of Rights. That’s why I’ve led the fight over the past few years to rein in abusive government surveillance powers, including ending the dragnet surveillance of Americans’ phone records. I’m proud that the president has finally heeded my longtime call for reform, but this fight is far from over. As Ben Franklin famously warned us, a people who give away their essential liberties for temporary safety will end up with neither. That’s why I won’t stop fighting for common sense reforms that ensure our safety while keeping faith with our nation’s founding values. With Coloradans by my side, I will hold the president to his word. Our constitutional freedoms are too important to let this growing, bipartisan effort fall by the wayside. LIKE this post if you agree we must end this sweeping surveillance and defend Americans’ privacy rights.
