Big Z will be handing Zeus over to Tony Lance, JT Parker and our client Kevin Bowlus at 5 pm local time today, November 18, 2013, at the White County Sheriff’s Office White: 915 West Hanawalt Monticello, IN 47960 Telephone-574-583-2251 This will be an emotional reunion for Seaman Kevin Bowlus, who has not seen his dog for 2 ½ months. Bowlus is a disabled Gulf War Veteran with service connected PTSD. While his family was in transitional housing in September waiting for a home closer to a VA Hospital where he could receive the treatment he needs, his psychiatric service dog, a Doberman named Zeus, was placed with a foster until the family was settled. This foster turned Zeus over to a second foster when her dogs did not get along with him. The second foster, without the consent of Mr. Bowlus, surrendered Zeus to Big Z Dobermans of Indiana. Soon thereafter, the situation began attracting national attention through Facebook. On November 15th, in a continued attempt to settle this matter ammicably, Bowlus’ attorneys sent Big Z an Offer to compromise prior to filing suit to recover possession of Zeus and advised that suit would be filed Monday, November 18th if Zeus was not released prior to Monday. We offered to pay their asking price of $150 to cover any boarding expenses they may have incurred. On November 17, 2013 Big Z accepted the offer of compromise.
