Colossians (3:12) Put on then, as Gods chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. Colossians (3:12) ESV Do you wear Christianity like a robe? Putting it on and taking it off when convenient? Of course most of us do, and I am not saying it is right or wrong to do so, that my loved ones is an issue that I am sure will be discussed between you and God. In my walk with Christ I find that more light than darkness comes from my spirit where once was nothing but darkness in my spirit, now burns bright with the love of God and the disciplines of the teachings of Christ. Every day and every lesson learned is more of a gift than a punishment and more of these attributes are allowed to surface. I was on my home yesterday and on a two lane highway that skirts though Native American reservations and through a grove of orange trees in full blossom I picked up a hitch hiker, He looked to be an old man bald headed in the shape of a cul-de-sac. He wore a pair of shorts and oddly enough a flowered Hawaiian shirt when he entered the vehicle he had one eye missing and what appeared to be an old scar running from ear to ear. He introduced his self asked for a ride to the next casino and immediately started telling me jokes as we road through the winding orchards. He said he had lost the eye and the acquired the scar in his teenage years due to freak accident in woodworking class and it turned out that he was a year younger than myself, in between this tragic story he kept telling jokes the same jokes over and over as we got closer to his destination he told me that he loved people as I pulled over to let him out he hit me up for a few dollars which I did not give him, he smiled and said man I love people, I told him that God loves and he agreed that God is great and we parted ways. So as we encounter those in need we are to quickly put on Christ as holy and chosen, beloved, using compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness and patience. I say to you and remind myself that if you never take off Christ you nor I will forget to put him on when we need him. Today’s prayer: Heavenly father I thank you for strange encounters with my fellowman let me not forget to stop and lend a helping hand, lead me through orange blossoms or through a parched and dusty land let me not forget that thou art with me and I belong to you. We pray for those that carry past scars that they can’t seem to shed. We pray joy, peace, comfort and the happiness that comes from God the father and being in a loving relationship with you upon their heads. We pray for the hungry, the sick and the lame. We pray that you touch, heal, guide and restore by thy will and in Jesus name. Amen Today’s challenge: is to not let any circumstance lead you to forget your Jesus put him on and refuse to take him off. God loves us and Jesus saves and may the peace that comes from strange encounters with the Holy Spirit always guide your ways. This week’s memory verse: Philippians (1:5-6) 5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. 6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians (1:5-6) ESV Love God, Love people and live well in Christ. Love to all (Uncle Sam)
