Colossians 3:12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility,gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Is this how you live your life with your family? Friends? Church? Enemies? If not then its time to set aside whatever may consume your time and draw near to the Lord. This isnt something we try to do and fail. This isnt something we strive for but fall short of. This is the fruit of the Spirit. If we truly walk in the Spirit this is what we look like. Do you clothe yourself in compassion? How many people in need have you been compassionate for this week? Kindness? What kind things have you done for others this week? Humility? Pride and arrogance is a cultural American virtue but it is fruit of the flesh not the Spirit. Do you consider others higher than yourself? Or do you live by selfish ambitions? Gentleness? Are you harsh with others when they are difficult to deal with? Or are you gentle with them? Patience? How long can you suffer for others? How long can you persevere under trials, tribulations, and temptations? Are you patient with others when they dont live up to your expectations? Do you live up to Gods? Is He patient with you? Love? Do you love as Christ did? Unconditionally and unfailingly? Do you keep records of wrongs those do against you? Do others easily anger you? Do you boast in anything aside from Christ? Do you envy? Are you rude? Do you always protect? Always hope? Always persevere? This is what real love looks like. If you live your life in the Spirit, love will be your most apparent trait. Love others as He loved us. He died for us while we were sinners. He forgave those who spit and beat and mocked and nailed Him to the cross. God is love. If you do not love, you do not have Christ.
