Colossians 3:16 says to: Let the message of Christ dwell among - TopicsExpress

Colossians 3:16 says to: Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. Songs can enable Scripture to find a place in our hearts in a unique way. Listening to, and meditating on, worship songs each day helps us to grow in biblical wisdom, plus it also helps us to prepare our hearts for our corporate worship on Sundays and other times when we gather together - we come to worship corporately from a place of worship personally. I quite randomly put this song on my iPod playlist this morning and I was so struck by the words that I kept replaying it over and over again. I felt that God was calling us to take back that which the enemy has stolen from us: our joy, our health, our peace, our strength, our unity. I dug a bit deeper into the story behind the song and understand it was inspired by the story of the raid on Davids men where the Amalekites took the mens wives, children and goods, of how David found strength in God, overtook the Amalekites and fought to take back what had been taken (see 1 Sam 30). Our battles are not physical, but spiritual (Eph 6:12). I want to encourage you to listen to this song, reflect on the words. Allow God to let his word dwell in you richly. Take courage and take it back! David was a great warrior, capable, but he found his strength in the Lord, the one who gives us victory, who has already won! (see 1 Sam 30:6). One line in particular really stood out to me: For how could He who did not spare His own son Not freely give us victory against the darkest of nights? Were gonna take back all the enemy has stolen. Rom 8:31-39 says: What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. God bless you this week! #takeback Take Back Lyrics: With the wind at our backs And in the strength of the Lord We will rise on the wings of the dawn Were gonna take back all the enemy has stolen Its in the blood of the One whos worthy I know God has not forgotten all thats lost and broken So, come and see the turning of the times Come and see His sons and daughters rise For how could He who did not spare His own son Not freely give us victory Against the darkest of nights? Were gonna plunder the pits of hell Youre worthy Will Reagan 2012 United Pursuit Music
