Colossians Sharing // Chapter 2 Even though Paul wrote the letters to the Christians at Colossae, I think that his goal was to encourage US also. Colossians 2:2-3 “ My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” Our season topic for Arise Youth Ministry is ‘Love Encounter’. The message that we’ve been reading about in the Bible is how much God loves us because He is love, and how we must love ourselves in order to love our neighbours. Paul encouraged us to be UNITED in love. There may be arguments and disagreements, but if we pray and ask God, He will bless us with wisdom to make the right choices and most importantly, to love each other despite the differences. Colossians 2:6-7 “ So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” In order for us to have a relationship with God, we need to be rooted in Him, in His word. Why do we read the bible? Because God talks to us through His Word, and He hopes that we will be ROOTED in His Word. Also, through His teaching, we may be strengthened in faith and overflow with gratefulness. Learn to be thankful and praise Him for all the blessings He has poured into your life. Our God is good. Colossians 2:13-14 “When you were dead in your sins...God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having cancelled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.” God’s love was shown to us when He took all of our sins and died on the cross. Our consequence for sinning was death, but God forgave us and made us ALIVE with Christ. He cancelled our debt, took it away and nailed it on the cross. Even though we were already His, He still had to pay the price by dying on the cross. Why? Because God IS Love. And He loves you so so much that He sent His only Son to die for you. He loves you. Through Colossians 2, Paul wants to encourage you and remind you that God loves you so much. - Cindy C
