Com. Rajinder Wali, Punjab National Bank posted on AIPNBOA (regd) ************ It is reported that a question was raised by M.P. Achuthan and D Raja in the Rajya Sabha with respect to inclusion of Bank employees under Pay Commission. The Minister of State for finance answered the question in the Rajaya Sabha and conveyed to the members of Rajya Sabha that there is no proposal to include banks employees under Pay Commission. QUESTION “Will the Minister of FINANCE be pleased to state :- (a) whether Government is considering a proposal to bring about 800,000 employees under Seventh Pay Commission; (b) if so, the details thereof; and (c) the reaction of the bank trade unions to this proposal and Government reaction thereto? ANSWER Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance (JAYANT SINHA) (a) to (c) No such proposal is under consideration of the Government During last few months rumors were going around that Government has offered pay commission to the Bank employees but Bank Unions/ Associations are opposing it…the truth is otherwise. It shows the indifferent attitude of government towards Bank employees. I am of the opinion that absolute powers has gone to the head of the present Government. In a democracy…a strong opposition is must but unfortunately we do not have any opposition to counter the suppressing policies of the Government.
