Come July 15 when all the numbers are tabulated, if District 16 is - TopicsExpress

Come July 15 when all the numbers are tabulated, if District 16 is indeed Distinguished, it wont be because weve set a record chartering clubs. Over the last several years the district has averaged 5 to 6 new clubs each year. Only Bob Campbells year had more. Bobs LGM Edward Engelke chartered 8 clubs that year and the district was Distinguished. What you did this year was hang onto more of what you had and added 5. We have lost just two clubs: The Professionals and Atoka. You are successful despite the dues being increased to $36 and minimum club size being increased to 8 members. Less successful districts might point to those two items and suggest it was a bridge too far. On the other hand District 16 overcame those obstacles by working together and focusing on common goals. In the attached photos Ive included those elected by the district council and those that were appointed by the District Governor. These men and women were the structure of the district. They did the legal work. They kept the checkbook balanced, the schedule on track and the district motivated. Without these 20 men and women, success would have been limited. Without the structure and guidance they provided, without a pat on the back when it was needed, without a strategic course correction or timely reminder, it would not have happened. These top leaders working with clubs, area governors and other individuals played an important role in the districts overall success. I love what WWII General Patton said, All the real heroes are not storybook combat fighters. Every single man in the army plays a vital role ....... every man is important. Its true. Still, on a nearby hilltop, or in a faraway situation room there must be people like the 20 featured in this article. They must be there to observe and remind you when the lines break down and offer support where needed. Without this TEAM concept the district cannot be the best it can be. Therefore, I want to honor and thank this group of men and women for their service and accepting what at times might feel like a thankless role. They stayed the course and did their part to help you make the district be the best it can be. They helped you set the stage for an even better experience next year.
