Come To Me... There is not one person who does not face some - TopicsExpress

Come To Me... There is not one person who does not face some sort of trial, unexpected turmoil, or disappointment in life. What we (I’m talking to Christians) are to do, we usually don’t do. You’ve heard the phrase, “You can lead a horse to water but you cannot make him drink,” is true of the average Christian today. God can show us Himself through His Word, in a dream or using another person to show us exactly what to do. However, are we obeying it? A thirsty horse can be led by the reins to take a drink but only the horse can actually take that drink. That is how many of us are. We depend on our own intellect, our way, or we are afraid of man’s opinion and thus are controlled by man. If you have been shown what to do in your situation and refuse to do it, then what else can God do? If you see God’s Word and decide it doesn’t fit your plans, He can do nothing. You have a choice. Run from person to person trying to find an answer or someone who will say what you want to hear, or turn to God, get alone with Him until you see clearly what He wants you to do and then obey Him – take that drink – knowing it is your life? How your situation plays out depends on your obedience. And how it turns out for someone else you are dealing with depends on your obedience as well. Because of your lack of obedience you may hinder God’s work in another person. We all know the truth of an unborn chick. If it is trying to crack the shell, struggling to get out, and we take pity on it and crack the shell for it, the chick will die. God set up the chick’s life this way. The chick’s struggle is what makes it stronger. The chick must do it for himself or die in the shell. Each time the chick tries to crack open his shell (like the devil having a hold of a person’s life) he gains strength until the time comes for his strength to be enough to break free of its shell. If the chick lays down and refuses to try, it will die. If we decide to do it for him, it will die. Only as the chick does what it is meant to do will it live. We choose in our own lives to lay down and die or push through with God and live. Today, consider the shell you are in and don’t quit. Consider the shells someone else is in and, though tempted, don’t break it open for them. Give them to God and let Him have His way in their life. You letting go may mean life or death for them. You trust God or you don’t. Which is it today? “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30) “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7). The way, the truth and the life is before you.
