Come and Dine John 21:9-13 The resurrected Christ purposely - TopicsExpress

Come and Dine John 21:9-13 The resurrected Christ purposely revealed Himself to His disciples following His resurrection in order to prove to them (and to the world) that He had risen from the dead and to demonstrate His continued ability to work miracles (14:6). Yet Jesus also desired to show them that He still provided for their needs as well (vv.9-13)-the resurrected Christ manifested Himself as one who provides for His own. Prior to His death, Jesus always made sure that the needs of His followers were met. In todays text, Jesus knew these men needed sustenance, so He provided for them in abundance (v.6b). Even today, we must understand, however, that God defines our needs from His perspective, not our own. A need is whatever is necessary for us to fulfill our particular part in Gods sovereign plan and purpose (see Phil.4:10-19). Jesus also manifested Himself to His disciples as one who still desired fellowship and communion with them (vv.9, 12). Jesus always sought to fellowship with His disciples because He loved them (13:1; 14:1-4; 15:4-5, 9-13), just as He loves us. In todays text, Jesus made it a point to meet with these disciples and eat breakfast with them. Notice that He took the initiative-He invited them to come and dine (v.12). Jesus wanted their company. Even today, how incredible it is to realize that the God of all creation desires to experience fellowship with us. In fact, it grieves Him when we move away from a close relationship with Him (1 Jn.1:7; Rev.2:1-5). The Lord always meets our needs and desires our fellowship. Our Savior never changes!
