Come and join us this Thursday at Cabelas at 6:30 pm for a chance to help out with a fawn recruitment study in southeastern Kentucky going on this winter. Gabe Jenkins, a KDFWR wildlife biologist, has asked me about getting some QDMA volunteers to assist in determining why there is a pronounced drop off of fawns in that area of the state versus the recruitment numbers in the rest of the state. They will be capturing live does this winter and collaring the deer and then going back in the summer to locate and capture the fawns to retrieve biological data for the study. This your chance to get your hands on live deer and be a part of this interesting study. Transportation will be on 4 wheelers, so climbing mountains will be to a minimum.
