COMMUNITY INPUT SOUGHT ON DOWNTOWN PLANNING STUDIES – JUNE 20, 2013 The City of Saskatoon is seeking community input on two significant planning initiatives that will intensify the residential, commercial, recreational and retail opportunities in the Downtown and establish a framework for development to support the city as it grows to a population of 500,000 residents. Please join us to learn more about the City Centre Plan and the North Downtown Master Plan at this upcoming Community Conversation: Thursday, June 20, 2013 TCU Place – Gallery Suite 35 22nd Street 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Drop in to view displays and provide comments, or plan to attend a presentation and discussion at: 5:30 p.m. (North Downtown Master Plan) and 6:30 p.m. (City Centre Plan) The City Centre Plan will develop a new comprehensive plan for the Downtown and important corridor areas leading to the Downtown. Key considerations include planning for higher density residential, retail, and office development, and ensuring that the Downtown remains the heart of the city for cultural, recreational, shopping, and business related activities. The City Centre Plan will also address the needs for key public amenities and infrastructure, including accommodation for all forms of transportation, parking, and green space which is needed to support and enhance this growth. The North Downtown Master Plan will guide the development of an exciting new neighbourhood in the heart of the city, in an area which includes former railyards and additional lands within the area bounded by Idylwyld Drive, 33rd Street, 1st Avenue and 24th Street. The North Downtown will be a lively residential and mixed-use neighbourhood which features a network of green and open spaces and promotes sustainable living.
