Come near to God and he will come near to you..... (James 4:8) For what great nation is there that has God so near to it, as the Lord our God is to us, for whatever reason we may call upon Him? (Deuteronomy 4:7) If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. (John 15:7) And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. (John 14:13) Blessed is the man You choose, And cause to approach You, That he may dwell in Your courts..... (Psalms 65:4) Do not be like the horse or like the mule, Which have no understanding, Which must be harnessed with bit and bridle, Else they will not come near you. (Psalms 32:9) Thank God for the blood of Jesus Christ! Because of Christs shed blood, we can enter with boldness into the very throne room of heaven. The blood has given us confidence. Christs sacrifice means that the thing that once produced death in us (proximity to God) now gives us life. The most militant thing you can do is draw near to God. When you are near to God, the Bible says you can call upon Him for whatever reason. In others words, you can ask Him for anything you want. This is the privilege of intimacy. Jesus Himself affirmed you can ask for anything. If youve been in a season of compromise and your not sure what Gods thinking about the choices youve been making...the smartest thing you can do is draw near. Youll get along better with God by drawing near than by drawing back. Near is the only safe place to be. Do not despise the means God uses to bring you into intimacy. Perhaps He is loving you enough to save you from the perverseness of your own ways. God will allow uncomfortable restriction in the life of a believer to cultivate obedience to His voice; to trigger profound character transformation; to produce mountain-moving faith; and to foster a lifestyle of intimacy with God. There is something beastly in the heart of man that causes him to wander away from his source of life. The Lord is imploring us to be wise and understanding instead of mulish. When will we learn to draw near? Father God, sprinkle us with your blood as we draw near in humility so that your favor might turn toward us. Amen.
