Come on, Joey. Calling a new gardener a failure is a bit rough. Even if you meant the crop was the failure. Mother Nature has a plan for every seed & plant. Gardeners attempt to mess with that plan. So if the plants protest a little with regard to that manipulation, we need to see what the natural progression would be. Glad to see you would allow one cauliflower to head late, but imagine if you let the ones at all different sizes/stages grow the way they were intended to grow, having a cauliflower every week or so into winter is a fantastic plan!! This past winter was really severe, but most falls & winters, I harvest broccoli & cauliflower when they are ready. Broccoli often is pulled out reluctantly in spring to make room for the new plantings or to turn the soil.
