Come on Sun, be fair! STEREO B spacecraft, on the far side of the sun, has experienced a massive impact by a CME that was first observed around 2100UTC 24th Sep. The impact was at around 1700UTC 25th Sep - a transit time of around 20 hours, very fast in anyones book. Looking at the MAG & PLASTIC chart, Bz reached -50nT on at least 2 occasions, but due to a block of missing data we dont know how long the massively south reading was sustained. Had this CME been Earth-directed, we would be looking at G5 geomagnetic storming for sure. I believe the source of this powerful CME was our old friend Active Region 2158, which produced the X-flare for us earlier in the month. *sigh*
