Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give - TopicsExpress

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30 Did you ever encounter a bully growing up? (Maybe you’re unfortunately dealing with one now.) No doubt you may can remember someone who bullied others. We probably could equally remember someone who went out of their way to show us love. Now, can you remember who played right field on your first Little League team? Most of us probably couldnt. What’s my point? We remember relationships. And we remember the love or the hate they expressed. What is it about relationships that make us remember them so well? It’s because the character of a specific person made an impact in our lives—either positively or negatively. Read Matthew 11:28-30. These verses beautifully express the character of God through Jesus. He reminds us to find rest and hope in Him. It is in His very nature to give us rest. Jesus doesn’t desire for us to go through life alone, struggling to do our best and hope it’s good enough. Instead, He desires to come alongside us, to show us grace, and bear our struggles with us. Just as we have been shaped by certain encounters with people, whether positive or negative, the experience we have with Christ can shape our view of Him and even how we live our lives as well. Something To Think About . . . Can you think of some specific experiences you’ve had with Jesus that stand out in your mind as meaningful? What can we do to appreciate more of Jesus’ character of goodness and grace as you go through your day? by: YM 360
