Comedy of errors? Mostly. [Disclaimer: Do not read if you dont like lengthy diatribes where hilarity ensues.] Found out that the hospital was closing the step down unit Mom was in for the weekend and had no private rooms available at 3:30. Because of infection risk she cant have a roommate. We decided to move her to the outpatient hotel area when they closed at 7. Outpatient pharmacy was closed (like everything else on the weekend here) so would need to find a pharmacy. Had hospital call RXs to pharmacy, went to my room which was hospital blocks away to get my warm coat and gloves, found car in garage on 3rd try and put pharmacy address in GPS. 3 of snow out and more falling! Found pharmacy and they couldnt fill one of the RXs because hospital had also called it to a Columbia pharmacy which had dutifully filled it. Meanwhile a tire light comes on, likely because it is 17 degrees. Found a place to put air in the tire and went back to pharmacy for some of RXs. Watched cars slide. Slid sideways once myself while stopped. Used 4WD to get back up the hill to the hospital dodging stuck and sliding cars. Why do they always seem to build hospitals at the top of hills anyway? Found parking spot in covered garage (bonus) thinking I am home free and the hospital door was locked. Every hospital door was locked. At this point really, really glad that I made the long walk (I almost didnt) to get my warm coat and gloves. Was just getting ready to search for the ER door (there is always someone in the ER, isnt there?) when someone came out a door and I ran inside. Got Mom moved and she is resting comfortably in the hotel room attached to the hospital with nurse me. Keep in mind that I did this with one hand tied behind my back...the hospital Starbucks isnt open weekends. Thats just about enough excitement for this trip!
