Comfort food when you need it, has to be reliable, readily available and most importantly, bring your emotions back to simpler times. For me there are Mums lasagne and meatballs, Dads hot and sour soup and spaghetti bolognese, the steamboat at The Vietnam Restaurant, yiros from Savvas, and the Meatlovers pizza from Scoozis. I have ordered this same pizza for over 20 years, ever since Uni days, and every time - despite my many food experiences since - it has never disappointed. From the ever familiar smell of the wood oven crisped base as it arrives at our table, its simple appearance, to the sweet combination of meats with BBQ sauce - it still transports my mind to much less complicated times. Few venues can boast such consistency and longevity. Scoozis remains a casual, humble and reliable eatery in a street and city that sees so many others come and go.
