Comforting Columbia River Washington Temple Day! Elder Stephen A. West, who presided at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Columbia River Washington Temple, stated at that occasion, Our homes are where we become prepared to go to the temple. Carved over the temple door is the phrase, The House of the Lord. Our houses should be homes where the Lord could be comfortable to visit. In the dedicatory prayer for the Kirtland Temple it was said establish a house, even a house of prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of learning, a house of glory, a house of order, a house of God. May that be said of our homes as well. I cant say it better myself then what Stephen West said. I know our homes can be a piece of heaven on earth. If we take care of our families and are kind to those around us we can help them and ourselves come closer to God. It reminds me of a song; Home can be a heavn on earth When we are filled with love, Bringing happiness and joy, Rich blessings from above-- Warmth and kindness, charity, Safety and security-- Making home a part of heaven, Where we want to be. Lets make our homes a place where we want our families to be safe.
