Coming This Summer – Tax Reform Town Hall Meetings Senate Finance Committee Chairman Baucus (D-MN) and House Ways and Means Chairman Camp (R-MI) announced last Friday that they plan to hold town hall meetings across the country during this summer. They also indicated that, in the wake of the IRS scandal over targeting politically conservative groups, an overhaul of the IRS may be warranted. Both the Senate Finance Committee and the House Ways and Means Committee are conducting related investigations. "We’re going to talk to people, families, consumers, business groups to get a better idea of what people are thinking," Sen. Baucus said. The Senate Finance Committee has held at least 9 meetings to date on tax reform. It has released discussion papers on different tax matters and a final discussion draft is expected this week. Working groups have been formed within the House Ways and Means Committee to consider tax reform. Rep. Camp recently told reporters that he has started one-on-one meetings with Committee members to discuss individual concerns about tax reform.
