Coming down 67 to Farmington, its obvious armadillos have overtaken opossums as the predominant road kill species in this part of Missouri. When startled, they have a bad habit of jumping up before running, valuable split seconds lost to avoid an oncoming tire. Tomorrow I want to climb the new trail going up Shepherd Mountain, trailhead is across the road from where I am staying tonight. Right now, I am entertaining myself reading about the pathogenesis and morphology of systemic sclerosis. School starts in 17 days.
