Coming down from the valleys and high mountains into a big, noisy, dirty town affects the body [BAJAR DE LOS VALLES Y ALTAS MONTAÑAS A UNA GRAN CIUDAD RUIDOSA Y SUCIA AFECTA EL CUERPO]. It was a lovely day when we left, through deep valleys, waterfalls and deep woods to a blue lake and wide roads [HACÍA UN DÍA PRECIOSO CUANDO NOS FUIMOS —POR HONDOS VALLES, CASCADAS Y BOSQUES PROFUNDOS— A UN LAGO AZUL Y CALLES ANCHAS]. It was a violent change from the peaceful, isolated place to a town that’s noisy night and day, to a hot clammy air [FUE UN CAMBIO VIOLENTO: DE UN LUGAR PACÍFICO, AISLADO, A UNA CIUDAD RUIDOSA DE DÍA Y DE NOCHE, A UN AIRE CALIENTE PEGAJOSO]. Sitting quietly in the afternoon, looking over the roof-tops, watching the shape of roofs and their chimneys, most unexpectedly, that benediction, that strength, that otherness came with gentle clarity; it filled the room and remained [SENTADO TRANQUILO PASADO EL MEDIODÍA, MIRANDO LOS TECHADOS DESDE ARRIBA, OBSERVANDO LA FORMA DE LOS TECHOS Y SUS CHIMENEAS, DEL MODO MÁS INESPERADO LLEGÓ ESA BENDICIÓN, ESA FUERZA, ESA OTREDAD, CON GENTIL CLARIDAD; COLMÓ LA ESTANCIA Y SE QUEDÓ].
