Coming from an ex-teacher, now full time tutor.... Ideally, kids should get all they need to know in school and that teachers have a small student to teacher ratio, kids get to have all their doubts and queries answered, teachers have enough time to cover exam taking techniques and questions on top of fundamentals. Ideally. Ideally, we will maintain an extremely high level of education without any cost to students, parents, teachers or society. Ideally, I wouldnt have a job if everything was ideally done. I think school teachers have a lot on their plate. And as a tutor, Im not against them but value adding to the childs learning. Parents are never forced to sign up their kids for tuition. If parents feel their kids can do without it or they can help their kids on their own; thats wonderful. Tuition exists for parents who are struggling with kids who are struggling. Simply put, tuition is just what it is...an aid. If parents cannot discern or manage their anxiety, dont blame tutors who are trying to help kids.
