Coming to you soon from Hollywood, we are happy to share with you another movie that features IOM’s work, specifically the USRP Resettlement programme. Have you ever wondered how it is like to leave from your country and go to a new country, new community far away from your home? Thousands of people are resettled in countries away from their own- many are fleeing conflicts and disasters while others face specific threats within their own countries. Mark your calendars, on Friday 6 November, a movie called ‘The Good Lie’ will be in theatres in South Africa. Inspired by the true story of The Lost Boys of #Sudan, #TheGoodLie is a story about girls and boys orphaned by the brutal Civil war in Sudan that began in 1983. The movie will launch in the US tomorrow (3 October). These young victims travelled as many as a thousand miles on foot in search of safety. Fifteen years later, a humanitarian effort brought 3600 lost boys and girls to America. IOM is honoured “The Good Lie” story partly captures the work we have been doing for decades assisting #refugees, #migrants and other vulnerable persons of concern to get a new life.
