Jan Bevington of Hillswick Wildlife Sanctuary was in London to receive an award for her work rescuing stricken marine creatures. She is pictured outside the House of Lords with Shetlander Roma Garrett (left), who runs the Border Patrol dog unit at Heathrow Airport with dog handler Jane Sharp and nine year old Tyke, who won animal of the year for tackling wildlife smuggling. The Lerwick Up-Helly- Aa committee have taken possesion of some very rare artifacts - an original shield, sword and helmet piece from the 1925 Jarl Squad - now the oldest such items in their galley-shed collection.Theyve been donated by Drew Howat who travelled specially from his home in New Zealand to present them to the committee personally.
