Coming up on 21 years together! We renewed our vows this weekend. We spent a lot of time writing them together, and they mean a lot to us (and maybe to others who have been together for a long time): I vow to cherish you for who you are, and to seek to understand your wants and needs, honor your dreams and aspirations, and support your choices. I vow to do my best to be happy as an individual and to bring that happiness into our marriage for you to share. I vow to be faithful to you and fully present for you, in heart, mind and body. I vow to share and promptly address conflicts so that we can move forward without unvoiced or unresolved tensions. I vow to keep our lives together exciting, adventurous and full of passion. I vow that when we encounter obstacles, we will face them together, and that when we meet challenges which we cannot overcome, we will do our best to be happy despite them. I vow to laugh with your joys, cheer for your successes and comfort you when you are sad. I vow that when you are sad, I will try to maintain my own balance, so that I can best support you. I vow to treat you with dignity, thoughtfulness, compassion and love. And I vow to let you know in word and deed how much I love you and appreciate having you in my life.
