Coming up this Friday night at Access is another installment of Hard Dance Classics that im DJjing at. To mark the occasion every day leading up ill tell you a little story about some of the tunes that are classics to me. #2 Mr Spring - Voyager 1.56 (Filter Kings Mix). Another from the birth of Hard House and one that bridged the gap between Club music, Speed Garage and Hard Dance. Tim Hannigan aka Mr. Spring was a bit of a one (maybe two) hit wonder with Voyager being by far the biggest tune in his repertoire. A large chunk of its success was due to being signed to Manifesto Records. Manifesto was headed up by Eddie Gordon, Luke Neville, Ben Cherrill and Judge Jules. Between them they had the promo, radio and dj abilities to make it hugeeeeeeee! I got my first copy as a 12inch promo courtesy of Sample Gee when he was at Universal/Polydor (He later included it on Lagered 4: A Rumble Through The Crates). Today I still have 3 copies (one of which I have worn extensively). Its shelf life lasted well into the golden age of hard dance of the late 90s early 00s and was a staple of my dj sets at Platinum 104/Icon. Im a big Speed Garage fan so its bassline resonated with me instantly and add in a bit of a hoover and youve got yourself a monster party jam. To this day I am STILL looking for a digital copy (its not on any paid digital site) Im not after a vinyl rip. It did come out as a CD Single too so it is out there if anyone knows! See you Friday!
