Coming very soon into the BHS. Will be posted on Minnesota Lost Pets as he was found up in Canada. FROM THE RESCUERS: We own a remote fly-in fishing lodge (Delaney Lake lodge) which is northeast of Kenora. We fish the English River System, and one of our guides was out with guests fishing. He saw the dog on the shore of an island and realized he was in distress. After work, he went back to the island and retrieved the dog. He removed porcupine quills and gave him some food. He then took him to a marina where we park our vehicles. All of our guests fly in to the lodge out of Nestor Falls, but we can also boat into our lake and leave vehicles at the marina which also has campers. He thought maybe a camper might have lost the dog. Anyway, no one claimed him, so Allan (my husband) ended up taking him to Kenora to the vet to get him checked over. They did blood work, took x-rays, and gave us antibiotics, dewormer, and heartworm medication. We brought him back to the lodge and started feeding him regularly. He immediately won the hearts of all the staff and guests! We were close to close up and Kenora has no holding facility or Humane Society, so I ended up bringing home to the Falls. He has been to the vet here and has been vaccinated with boosters due in Oct. They also found one more quill near his left eye which they removed. They gave us another round of antibiotics which he has now finished. He’s started putting on weight, and his right paw seems to be healing nicely. We will post him to try and find the owner and if not successful after one week this WHITE GERMAN SHEPHERD will go up for adoption.
