Command Financial Specialist (CFS) training will be held at Fleet and Family Support Center, Great Lakes from December 1-5, 2014. The CFS functions as the command’s principle advisor on policies and matters related to Personal Financial Management (PFM). The three major responsibilities of a CFS are to provide financial education, information and referrals, and financial counseling. CFS training provides in depth instruction on the Navys Excel based Financial Planning Worksheet (FPW), counseling techniques, and referral resources. Students will also receive training on credit management, taxes, saving techniques, basic investing, and retirement planning. To attend, members must be in pay grade E6 or above, be financially stable and have at least one year remaining in their command at the time of course completion. Financially stable is defined as a service member who is able to meet the financial overseas screening standards. Contact Colleen Sineway at 847-688-3603 ext. 147 for information and to register.
