Comments from Pat Gleason at the funeral of her daughter, Ericka today - read by Judge Nikki Clark... If anyone needed to find erika in a crowd, it was easy to describe her: just look for a beautiful lady with a fabulous outfit (possibly FSU themed), a monogrammed purse and of course the biggest smile in the room. a smile that lit up her whole face. And, if you were very fortunate, you would hear that wonderful laugh that was unique to erika. But seeing how lovely Erika was on the outside would not begin to describe her inner beauty. Her kindness generosity and loving spirit made her a special part of everyones life who was fortunate enough to know her. Many people pass through life making friends and then moving on to new experiences and new friends. Not Erika. Once you were her friend you stayed her friend forever. Childhood friends, teenage friends, college friends, teaching friends and of course her wonderful friends from good shepherd she kept them close to her always. In fact I found a big box of cards just waiting for her to write a personal message in her very special handwriting, And of course her brother Jonathan ...She loved Jonathan the moment he was born and made him a poster saying that he was the best baby in the wold Spelling was not a huge priority for Erika at that time. She loved to tease Jonathan about being a Florida Gator and actuallly that was easy to do for the past few years. We were able to share so many wonderful experiences with each other and for that we will always be grateful. She also shared so many happy times with grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins and when her cousins started having children of their own there was no question about who was going to be that special aunt. And of course, her precious students she loved each and every one and they all brought great joy to her life. We all knew Erika was going to be a teacher when at 6 years old she gathered her dolls and Carebears after school and began teaching them the lessons she had learned that day. These memories will have to sustain us now... erika has joined her father whom she loved so deeply and shared a deep abiding faith I hope that everyone will now take a moment to think about their special times with Erika and send her their loving prayers.
