Commerce - for the life of me I cant understand why a territory of the United States is hesitant to capitalize on being a territory of the US. What does that mean? We are still looked upon as a third world country. Most places wont even ship to the VI. We need to make that link more accessible. Shipping equates to about 30-40% cost of goods in the Virgin Islands. To get more commerce this has to be addressed. The easier it is for the movement of goods the more revenue and profits delivered. We make deals with airlines all the time so why not FedEx and UPS? Cost effective shipping is the bottleneck restricting profitable commerce in the VI. I can get items from China cheaper than it is to ship to the VI. lets leverage the US label to boost our relationships with global suppliers.
