Commission Triples Investment in European Infrastructures. Allocating €26 billion for the period 2014 – 2020, the Commission is opting to build a European core transport network by establishing nine new major Corridors: 2 North–South, 3 East–West, and 4 diagonal. This significant investment is allocated under Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), the EUs new funding mechanism supporting the development of high-performing, sustainable and efficiently interconnected trans-European networks in the field of energy, telecommunications and transport.
