Commission keeping close eye on budget By Joseph Bell Record Editor Officials at the North Central Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission are keeping a sharp eye on budget discussions in Harrisburg as the commonwealths fiscal year draws to a close at the end of the month. Preliminary reports from the state Capitol indicate the commonwealth is staring at a budget deficit in excess of $1 billion while across the country, state revenue is up 3.8 percent over last year, according to the National Association of State Budget Officials.
