Commitment is the word for this season. Commitment to the ordinary. God asked Moses, What do you have in your hand? He answered, A rod. God said, Throw it down. And when Moses did, it became a snake. That speaks volumes to me! There are things God has placed in our hands. Sometimes He asks us to release them to Him. And when we do they become a snake? Why? God said to Moses, Pick it up. And so Moses cautiously tries to pick it up by the head so it wont bite him. No, by the tail, God says. The tail? Why on earth would he want to do that? On earth it doesnt make sense, but in heaven it rings true to God. He was simply wanting Moses to see that He, God, could be trusted to protect Him and be with Him in any circumstance, even the seemingly ordinary things like the rod in his hand. What is in your hand today? If God asks you to throw it down, dont be surprised if the ordinary becomes a monstrous thing. Then, watch God tame it as you jump in and take it back. God has His ways to reveal to us that we are not here alone. Many times ordinary things mushroom into stuff we feel we cant handle. But God will show us the way to tame them if we JUST listen and obey! What is the ordinary thing that has become a snake in your life? Be committed to seeing it through even if it seems impossible. God wants to show you His power in this ordinary gift that seems like it will grow into a monster if you give it up. But when He shows you how to pick it back up properly, all of heavens power will be released .... through the ordinary rod in your hand. Be committed to the ordinary and to the God who takes ordinary things and makes them extraordinary!
