Committee consultation The Committee is to be consulted whenever - TopicsExpress

Committee consultation The Committee is to be consulted whenever a project is promoted which materially affects the existing environment. This will involve any new development. It will also cover any alteration to existing premises where it materially affects the external or internal appearance of the building. The Committee is also to be consulted where necessary by local managers when undertaking minor projects. Small schemes The C&H Committee will be pro-active in promoting and advising on small projects which improve the heritage aspects of the SVR environment. This could relate to matters such as signage, fencing and painting in authentic colours for example. This would be done in partnership with the local managers. For this to happen, the SVR Holdings Board will provide a budget which can then be allocated by the C & H Committee to provide funding for these small projects which will improve the heritage environment. The works will be undertaken largely within the context of the survey recommendations which will be prepared by the committee (see 2. above). The committee can also give advice and seek the use of external partnership funding where necessary for schemes which require more resources than are available from the budget provided, but are not of such a nature as to require major funding from the SVR Holdings Board. All such projects shall initially be determined by the C & H Committee, and then implemented through the offices of the SVR Infrastructure Manager, who is a permanent member of the Committee. A scheme such as this will promote volunteer involvement in their own local heritage and encourage action to be taken at a local level which will have an impact on the overall railway environment for the visitor. The local managers will already have been consulted during the report to be prepared on all aspects of heritage (see 2. above) These arrangements for the C & H Committee will be subject to review at periodic intervals.
