Communications is a very important part of life. I was reminded of that today/tonight. One of the many things I do is being a Boy Scout merit badge counselor for Communications. I also occasionally make a comment on Facebook. I was rather shocked to find so many people who are not my facebook friends have actually read my posts. I was also shocked by peoples comments this week referring to things Ive said. I was surprised by old high school friends whom I havent seen in over 40 years sharing memories. Even my brother liked one of my posts. I also worked for the military intelligence, so I know I have 2 big brothers reading my posts and one uncle named Sam! I try to offer others advice and witty observations and pieces of wisdom. Some of the advice is accepted, and some of it goes in one ear and out the other. But I am reminded whether people agree with me or not, they usually respect me for my words/humor provided. With that said.... Its amazing what information you come across by accident on the internet. One of my high school classmates mother died this past week. She was 91 years old. She was a teacher at my high school. I never had her as a teacher, and her son wasnt one of my closest friends, But I respected both him and his mother and he always treated me with that same respect. . She was always a very beautiful lady; filled with class. I would like to take this time to repost and share her words included in her obituary . I did not know her well, but as a teacher, she influenced my life. Her name was Mrs. Elizabeth Orear. Her son is Dr. Jeff Orear. These are the words she wanted to share with her family, friends and the world. In her farewell message to friends and family, Elizabeth requested, “Please don’t cry for me at my funeral! No dirges, no solemnities, no tears are appropriate. Instead, I request smiles, joyful music, and quiet thanks to God.” She asked that we celebrate her life for she felt, “No one could ask for more or feel more satisfied of a life well-lived, not wasted but relished, and hopefully of some worth to family and community.” - See more at: gazettextra/article/20140304/ARTICLES/140309943/1086#sthash.U2JU2NEd.dpuf
